The other morning my husband, Tom and my son, Bryce (13) and I were in the kitchen. In the course of the conversation, I got to peek into a teenager’s mind and a glimpse how his world is put together.
Tom: Ben, after you eat will you please unload the dishwasher?”
Bryce: I hate unloading the dishwasher. Why can’t James or Ryan do it (his 14 year old brother and his twin)?
Tom: Because I asked you to do it.
Bryce: But I don’t want to unload the dishwasher…and shouldn’t have to.
Tom: Who do you think should do it?
Pause…
Bryce: Mom
Tom: Why do you think your Mom should have to do it?
Bryce: Because that’s what moms are for!
Really?
